Overall the picture is great after the line disappears usually 30 min after turning it on >> late delivery The T V itself is great I found it in a retail store and was able to compare the picture and features to Sony Samsung etc And it was the BEST The delivery was not what I expected They gave me a four day window then moved it back another week which caused me inconvenience since I was in town for the original dates but out of state for the second Had I known they were going to change the dates I would have found another vender The price was ver good however I saved 700 00 by not going the retail route It all worked out and I am happy with the purchase

If you leave the TV on long enough the line goes away >> A beatiful TV that unfortunately had problems We got this TV for a steal in July and unfortunately just had to return it today The picture quality really is quite amazing and it is obvious that Mitsubishi has put a lot of thought into the design of the menus and features of their products However a couple of days ago we noticed a very thin vertical line running down the screen a few inches from the right side Since we were just barely under our 30 days to return the TV to the store we purchased it from we were able to bring it back without trouble I ve done some looking around online and have found that this same problem has occurred for lots of other owners both on this model and the earlier model the 46244 Rather than risk having the same issue again we have gone with the Samsung LN46B650 instead
I am disappointed things didn t work out because we really were very happy with the performance of this TV For our hard earned money however we feel better about owning a model without any recurring issues Best of luck
>> Four Stars So Far In February 2008 we purchased the Mitsubishi LT46244 which was the immediate predecessor of the LT46246 The first LT46244 lasted 15 minutes and then died It was replaced and four months later experienced panel separation That panel was replaced under warranty 12 days after the one year warranty expired the replacement panel separated Mitsubishi had extended the manufacturer s warranty by a year but was unable to get replacement panels As a result Mitsubishi replaced the defective LT46244 with its new model the LT46246
We noticed a significant improvement in the LT46246 s color and clarity over the previous model As we had done previously we set the color on bright since the TV is being used in a brightly light room Mitsubishi s normal setting was more washed out than we liked however were we using this set in a more dimly light room that setting would have been satisfactory In fact the color is so vivid that we have had two doves a hummingbird and a wren fly into the window that is directly opposite the television and 15 feet from it
I have rated this television as a four star product for several reasons The LT46244 had a matte screen which produced no glare in a brightly lighted room the LT46246 screen does have a slight glare problem However if the panel is of better quality I am more than willing to put up with the slight glare It does not seem that Mitsubishi improved on the sound quality That is not a major factor for my spouse and I as we are both tone deaf audiophiles will probably want to purchase a surround sound system for better sound quality
One final note we did purchase an extended warranty from the local authorized Mitsubishi dealer After the fiasco with the LT46244 we are taking no chances

Mitsubishi LT 40134 40 Inch 1080p LCD HDTV >> A perfect HD tv I own a larger Mitsubishi LT 46231 that is the best tv I ever had so when I went shopping for a 40 inch for the bedroom at BestBuy I found they did not sell the LT 40134 I purchased a SonyV3000 what a nightmare motion blur that was the worst I have ever seen auto dim a feature to hide the clouding that plagues Sony sets color I could never get right after tweaking non stop for 3 weeks I gave up and returned it to BestBuy then I had an idea I called Paul s tv to see if they sold the LT 40134 they had one left I got a great deal when it was delivered I used the same settings that I used for my LT 46231 perfection here are some of the features

Both my Mitsubishi s put any other brand to shame I have owned 4 HD sets an LG which was awful a Panasonic which ended up being too small I now have found the sets I can brag about I highly recommend this set it s wonderful >> Great picture I bought this TV two months ago and I m very happy with it The picture is excellent with HD programming 1080i and 720p and even with 480p inputs As for analog signals well it s as good as I ve seen but you just have to accept that plain old TV will never look that good on a HDTV I ve also hooked the TV up to a Dell computer with a DVI to HDMI cable and get a brilliant 1080p picture The computer runs Vista Media Center using digital cable tuners with cable cards and the picture is superb from this setup much better than the component input picture from my Comcast cable box
The TV automatically recognizes most things you plug in and sets up the input for you I haven t used the universal remote features as I have a Harmony remote so I can t comment on those but the remote seems reasonably easy to use The menus are pretty easy to navigate but if you linger too long in changing a setting the menu goes away this can be a bit frustrating
The only negative I ve seen so far is that I can see variations in the screen surface like bands but these only show up when there is sunlight reflecting off the screen They re invisible at night or when the sunlight isn t very bright I also wish the TV had picture in picture PIP but that s not a knock on what s in the TV as it is
The TV appealed to me as it needed to fit in an armoire that has a 37 inch platform It just barely fits but I got the maximum screen size I could fit in the armoire so I m happy I d have had to settle for a 37 inch screen otherwise I d definitely recommend the TV to anyone looking for a 40 inch LCD screen >> DON T BUY IT Don t bother with this TV Mitsubishi s support for its product is nothing short of pathetic I purchased this TV last month only to have a small horizontal blacked out line show up in the display within the first week or so of use Following all of the warranty instructions I called Mitsubishi Their local service center picked it up called me a week later and told me it could only be fixed if a new LCD panel were provided I was told I had to call Mitsubishi myself Upon being called Mitsubishi s agent claimed that the LCD panel was not within the warranty even though the warranty itself has no such exclusion but covers all parts and labor So if you want a 1700 paperweight this is the TV for you Otherwise stick with another manufacturer
